Salon Autumn 2009 of Chinese Artist, Application Information


Application Deadline: 8/27/2009 (Postmarked as Proof)


1) Objective:

Expound the truth, beauty, and goodness of human nature. Promote a beautiful new world. Build a wholesome and peaceful new century.


2) Organizer:

X-Power Gallery


3) Applicant’s qualifications:

18 years of age, nationality of Taiwan or China


4) Contest regulations:

a. Limit to two pieces of artwork submitted by an applicant.

b. Artworks must have been started after January of 2008

c. Any violations to the following will initiate immediate disqualification, which applies to all participants including award recipients and their awards. Any related expenses and compensation for damages as a result of such violations may also be imposed.

I) Plagiarize or copy in whole or in part of other artists’ artworks.

II) Works that are not created by the applicants personally or of which the copyright is not specific.

III) Withdraw from the exhibition.

IV) Prior awards received on the submitted artworks from other open contests.

V) Concurrent participation of the submitted artworks in other open contests.


5) Artwork parameters:

a. Theme: No restrictions, nonetheless it should conform to the objective of this event.

b. Types: Flat surface artworks, material and approach not restricted but computer generated images and materials, photos and video images are not acceptable.

c. Dimension: Must be within 163cm wide X 240cm high.

d. Number to Submit: Limit to two.


6) Procedures:

a. Preliminary contest requirements:

I) Register online at X-Power Gallery website http://www.xpgallery.com.tw/ and download application information.

II) Applicants should provide 13cmX18cm pictures of their artworks. Black color can be used as background. At the center of the bottom of the pictures, artist’s name, title of the painting and materials used should be provided.

III) Applicants must submit artworks on High Resolution TIFF Graphic CD(CMYK,300dpi,21×29 cm)

IV) All required materials (application, pictures, CD) must be postmarked before 8/27/2009. They can be delivered using registered mail or expressed mail to X-Power Gallery.(1F., No.98, Sec. 4, Xinyi Rd., Da-an District, Taipei City 10682, Taiwan (R.O.C.)--- Huang Chao-Ying

b. Final contest requirements:

I) Announcement date for the winners from the preliminary contest

II) Winners from the preliminary contest will be posted on http://www.xpgallery.com.tw/

III) To enter the final contest, artworks must be delivered and received between 10/1 and 10/8 (No receiving on the weekend) at X-Power Gallery(1F., No.98, Sec. 4, Xinyi Rd., Da-an District, Taipei City 10682, Taiwan (R.O.C.)

IV) All shipping expenses should be paid by the participants.


a. The organizer has the honor to invite deans, professors and professional expert from fine arts universities s of both sides of the strait as the jury panel in charge of the judging.

b. The jury will decide on what to use for judging, whether it is TIFF graphic computer file , pictures or original artworks.

c. From the final round of the contest, the jury will select one for the Highest Artistic Achievement Award, one for the Gold Medal Award and five for the Most Promising Artist Award. Should the jury panel be unable to select qualified artworks for the above mentioned awards, it will only make the final decision after deliberate discussion among all jurors that these awards will not be given to any participating artist.

d. Jury’s Criterion: Breakthrough contemporary artistic spirit, originality and uniqueness of the artworks, technical skills and composition, general public response.


8) Rewards:

a. Highest Artistic Achievement Award: Purchasing Reward of $150,000 NT (The organizer and the award recipient will sign a purchasing agreement. Taxes will be deducted according to applicable tax laws.), trophy and certificate, signing an annual artist’s representative agreement with X-Power Gallery.

b. Gold Medal Award: Purchasing Reward of $70,000 NT (The organizer and the award recipient will sign a purchasing agreement. Taxes will be deducted according to applicable tax laws.), trophy and certificate

c. Most Promising Artist Award: Trophy and certificate

d. All selected artists from the first round of contest will be awarded with Certificate of Exhibit Participation.


9) Awards, Exhibition, Sales and Returns:

a. Award reception and announcement ceremony will be held on November of 2009

b. Exhibition:

I) Selected artworks from the first round of contest will be exhibited either in Taipei or in Shanghai.

II) Highest Artistic Achievement Award has the option of either Taipei or Shanghai for its solo exhibit.

III) Gold Medal Award also has the option of either Taipei or Shanghai for its solo exhibit.

IV) Most Promising Artist Award has the option of either Taipei or Shanghai for its joint exhibit.

V) The organizer and each participant shall sign a detailed exhibit agreement.

c. Sales:
All artworks on exhibit must be authorized for sale. The organizer and each participant shall sign a consignment sales agreement.

d. Returns:
Participants will be notified of the specific time after the exhibit for releasing artworks back to them by the organizer. Participants shall pay for all shipping costs. Should any artworks not shipped back after the designated date, the organizer will reserve the right to dispose these artworks.
Participants of these left behind artworks will not hold the organizer responsible for their loss.


10) Rights and Responsibilities:

a. Due to the necessities of marketing to the broad public, the organizer has the right to publicly exhibit, duplicate, issue introductive articles of selected and awarded artworks and submit them for publishing in magazines, websites, or any other media reports.

b. It is the responsibility of the participant to follow the rules and regulations of the contest, the exhibit and the event. All submitted artworks shall not violate others’ intellectual property rights. Rights to use other artists’ artworks must be obtained and documented legally. Should disputes and legally related problems arise, participants will be solely responsible for their resolutions. In the event when the organizer suffers damages as a result of the actions of the participant, he or she must also be held responsible for the compensation to the organizer.

c. Participants shall arrange any necessary insurance. The organizer, its hires or representatives, will not be held responsible in the event of damages or loss from shipping or storage.


11) Supplements:

a. Participant’s signature on the application form will be deemed as agreement to all rules, regulations, conditions and restrictions specified on the form.

b. The organizer reserves the right to make amendments or addendums to this current version of rules and regulations of the event. Announcement will be made following such changes.
